Carry a touch of the Smithsonian and enjoy the beauty of nature portrayed in our Botanical Bags, featured in the Summer 2024 issue of Classic Sewing magazine. The floral reproduction prints and panels are made by Marcus Fabrics, in cooperation with the Smithsonian Institute. The panel includes the pre-printed tote bag and straps, all ready to sew. Marcus Fabrics has also provided simple tote bag instructions for a lined or unlined bag.
The Botanical Bag #1 is the basic tote bag as provided by Marcus Fabrics and is available in two choices: Bag #1a features the basic unlined tote bag panel, while Bag #1b features the tote bag panel, lining fabric, and Fine Fusible Fleece. Both kit variations include Schmetz machine needles and So Fine 50wt thread.
With the Botanical Bag #2 kit, the pre-printed panel is used to create a lined bag with fusible fleece to add body, bound straps, one bound pocket, and a key fob. The Bag #2 kit includes the pre-printed botanical bag panel, as well as fabrics for the lining and pockets. Also included are Fine Fusible Fleece, thread, needles, and a carabiner hook for keys.
With the Botanical Bag #3 kit, various botanical prints are used to create a lined bag with fusible batting to add body, bound straps, and four pockets. One pocket includes a zipper! The Bag #3 kit includes five botanical prints to create the tote, lining, straps, and pockets. Also included are Floriani Fusible Batting, thread, needles, zipper, and a carabiner hook for keys.
