Made of luxurious linen in a vibrant shade of coral that is reminiscent of a tropical sunset, this light and breezy junior’s dress is perfect for a walk on the beach. Designed by Kelly Williams, this project is featured in the Summer 2024 issue of Classic Sewing magazine. The figure-flattering, hourglass silhouette is created by cinching the drawcord tie on the left side of the waist as it exits the casing through grommets. The classic mandarin collar with a slit neckline is nestled between vertical tucks on the front bodice for a sophisticated sundress that will take you from a daytime shopping trip to an evening dinner with a few accessory swaps. Pearl cotton in shades of light to dark pink attached with a blind hem stitch embellishes each tuck with a subtle scallop texture for a dainty feminine detail. In-seam pockets make this dress not only practical, but functional, as they are attached into the waistline and provide added stability for holding heavier items such as a cell phone or keys without distorting the sundress silhouette.
This kit includes the linen, interfacing, threads, Schmetz needle, grommets, and metal grommet tool you need for making the dress in your choice of junior sizes XS (0–1) through XL (15–17). Please note: The pattern is not included in the kit. The Coral Breeze Sundress instructions, full supply list, and pattern in junior sizes XS (0–1) through XL (15–17) are all included in the issue downloads that come with the Summer 2024 issue of Classic Sewing.
